Socks, Saints & Sharing the Faith

with Scott & Elisabeth Williams

What if a pair of socks could start a conversation about the Catholic faith?

In this episode of The Creative Catholics, Alex Cahill sits down with Scott and Elisabeth Williams, founders of Sock Religious, to explore how creativity, entrepreneurship, and Catholic faith have come together in an unexpected and joyful mission.

What began as a side project grew into a full-time business—and eventually into a way of helping Catholics share their faith in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • How Sock Religious began—and how an unexpected opportunity became a business

  • What it’s like to build a company together as husband and wife

  • The lessons entrepreneurship has taught Scott and Elisabeth about marriage

  • Finding a healthy balance between work, family, faith, and rest

  • Why creativity and humour can be powerful tools for evangelization

  • How saints, feast days, and Catholic culture inspire their designs

  • The importance of making the Catholic faith feel joyful, approachable, and alive

  • Discerning when a business or project needs to grow in a new direction

  • Separating Sock Religious and Four Marks Printing into two distinct businesses

  • Using business as a way to serve the Church and help people live out the Great Commission

  • Taking risks and trusting God when the path forward isn't certain

  • Creating a company culture rooted in joy, integrity, excellence, and innovation

  • What Scott and Elisabeth hope their children will remember about the way they lived their vocation

A different kind of evangelization

For Scott and Elisabeth, evangelization doesn't have to mean standing on a stage or giving a formal talk. Sometimes it can begin with something as simple as a pair of socks.

Their hope is to create opportunities for Catholics to share why their faith matters—whether that's through a conversation with a stranger, a parish event, or simply wearing something that sparks curiosity.

At the heart of their work is a desire to bring commerce, culture, creativity, and the Great Commission together.

One thing to take away

You don't necessarily have to invent a completely new way to evangelize. Sometimes the invitation is simply to look at the gifts, interests, and opportunities already in front of you—and ask how God might be calling you to use them.
